This April, I had the pleasure of attending the Sylvie Gil workshop in Beaune, France. It was a 5 day luxury vacation with some of the most valuable education I’ve received since starting my business 4 years ago. This was my first time ever in France and I was blown away by it’s beauty as soon as I arrived. Chateau de Varennes is the perfect place for a French countryside wedding.
The workshop itself was just an absolutely incredible experience. It was designed to help us grow our film portfolios, but was inclusive to purely digital photographers as well. If you haven’t been to the French countryside, go right now. We stayed at Chateau de Varennes, a 400 year old chateau (still family owned and operated) in the Burgundy region of France. The drive from the train station to the chateau was honestly one of my favorite parts of the trip – gorgeous farm land scattered with the cutest farm houses (each with powder blue shutters, just like the pictures).
We started each day with the most delicious croissants (and extra Nutella for me), and then went into our classes – Q&A sessions with Sylvie, Darci Greenwood of Greenwood Events, Richard Photo Lab, and Shira Savada, and a 3-day intensive sales course with Sam Jacobson of Ideaction Consulting. I left with my brain overflowing with ideas on how to transform my business. The afternoon was spent in styled shoots designed by some of the industry’s most talented vendors. Sylvie walked us through each station and
I shot A LOT of film in France. Like a lot. I came ready for a challenge and I’m so glad that I pushed myself creatively. I used Richard Photo Lab to process my film and they did such a beautiful job making my scans look just how I wanted them to.
I’m splitting this blog into two parts because there is just so much content I want to share. First up, the bridal boudoir, groom getting ready, and details.
